Professor lectures in “real time;” most students confused, indifferent

“At first, I thought my ears were just going faster.”

Nov. 11, 2009 – A group of students attending their first “live” class this week were unsettled by the pace of the oratory.

“At first, I thought my ears were just going faster.” Said David Douglas, ’13 “It was like being in the matrix”

Mr. Douglas and six of his peers thought it might be entertaining to catch a glimpse of “how they film episodes of lecture.” “We just wanted to know what things were like on set”, said Sarah Simms, ’13, adding “I think they do something with the cameras, like to the microphone.”

When asked to comment, Professor Frimblehurtz remarked that he was “pleased” that students had noticed his slower pace, and expressed hope that other lecturers would take from his lead.

Said Mr. Douglas “I hope they don’t do this again next season. Neat gimmick, but I didn’t get it.”
